Yesterday, I made a comment on a post about Miranda Grell, which is the first link to this blog from the outside world so I suppose I had better start writing something. So a quick note. Miranda Grell made a false statement about another election candidate in order to enhance her own chances of winning. Emily Thornberry MP added a comment into an official press release from a public body. She put her own quote in the middle of the official dialogue and did not mark or distinguish it in any way from the original text. She then sent it to the local news media. The HoC committee on standards and privileges says this is acceptable, most would probably disagree Both people termed their decisions ‘unwise’. If politicians want people to trust them then why do they do such things. Emily Thornberry’s quote was about low voter turnout. How does this kind of thing help? Why not be honest? For future reference Em, you can install a ‘Track changes’ add-on in Word that allows you to add comments of your own to other peoples work. |
